Hasund

Hasund is a village in Ulstein municipality situated by the bridge to the island of Dimnøya, just south of Ulsteinvik. The village has a rich industrial history including a dairy, a mill and a cork factory, and is today a quiet residential area close to the town centre.

Om Hasund

Ulstein Dairy was founded in Hasund in 1890 as a butter dairy, making use of the abundant fresh spring water for cooling. Møre Cork Factory was started by Karl Hasund and others, with the concrete factory completed in 1947. Hasund School was first built by the bridge to Dimnøya in 1879. The village connects Hareidlandet and Dimnøya and has been a hub for local industry.
